Stability Proposal offered to School Board
Proposed solution offered, but rejected
You have communicated to BRE parents, that you seek stability for our school, and tenured
teachers. It does not appear that either of these is really the goal. You have destabilized our
school, by removing our associate principal, suspending teachers, and firing teachers soon to
have tenure. Three teachers that we will lose at the end of the year will be Dr. Ochoa, Ms.
Chavez, and Ms. Marchbanks. You have heard more than a fair amount of input, from parents,
attesting to their fine jobs as instructors.
Since the removal of Principal Al Bennett, it appears that the actions against the school, parents,
and students have been one of retaliation. Don’t people have a right to stand up and speak their
mind, without fearing backlash? Your decisions have left a school damaged, and parents and
teachers waiting for what’s coming next.
You were given a proposal by a parent, on March 5 th , 2020, during the closed session of the board meeting. The proposal was that if you wanted stability and tenured teachers, that you should keep Dr. Ochoa, Ms. Chavez, and Ms. Marchbanks, and that you could achieve both. All three teachers would receive tenure on the first day of the 2020-2021 school year. This would be an excellent opportunity for both sides to attain what they want in the end.
I am sure you are tired of dealing with parents, just as parents are tired of dealing with you. If the board can facilitate this, BRE parents will back off to a significant degree. Parents that are angry with you will not grow angrier. Parents that are not angry with you will not become angry. If we can reach this agreement, this situation will not have to escalate further, but stabilize. Help heal our school.
It has become apparent that you gave this proposal little consideration, if any. It didn’t make a
dent. We came to you in good faith, in commitment, and you ignored it. We tried to attain
stability. We tried to prevent things from escalating, but you were not interested in working
together.
You should have heard the warning in there, but if you did not, well, this situation is
escalating. You did not care, so we are escalating it. We will continue to do so, until you decide
to do your jobs, and work together with us.
We aren’t going away, we will not quit. Do not make the mistake of underestimating us.
Our jobs as parents are till we pass; your jobs are until the votes say different.
