Request to change vote to keep 3 BRE Teachers

I am asking you to please vote to keep Dr. Ochoa, Mrs. Chavez, and Miss Marchbanks on as teachers at Butterfield Ranch E.S.

A vote to reinstate them as teachers at BRE for the next school year sends a powerful and loud positive message from the CVUSD Board of Education.

  1. It says you listen to the community.
  2. It says you care about the students.
  3. It says you care about the effect that keeping these teachers on will have on campus morale.
  4. It says you support good teachers.
  5. It says you understand how important it is to have invested teachers in your schools.
  6. It says you are willing to change your mind when it is the right thing to do.
  7. It says you recognize human lives (students, the teachers, the parents, etc) are more important than a punitive message.

A decision to continue with the process of letting these 3 amazing teachers go also sends a powerful and loud message from the CVUSD Board of Education. Unfortunately, this would be a negative message.

  1. It would say you do not put the students’ education first.
  2. It would say you do not care about the extremely negative impact their removal would have on the campus.
  3. It would say you are not to be trusted with making decisions in the best interest of our students and schools.
  4. It would say that you are more concerned with maintaining an alliance with people whose sole goal is to punish our Butterfield Ranch ES community for rising up against an unsatisfactory situation.
  5. It would say you are willing to sacrifice 3 amazing teachers’ livelihoods and career paths just to make a point.

There are no “facts” anyone can show me to prove to me that any of these 3 teachers should be let go from this campus or this District.

I encourage you dismiss any “facts” that were placed in front of you that you used to justify your prior vote to let them go. As we see in all parts of life, there is evidence to support whatever agenda one is wishing to push.

Do you go with the Superintendent’s (punitive) or the parents who voted you in (Students First)? The facts you should be looking and taking into consideration are students.

These 3 teachers are the golden apples. I am part of the yearbook committee and I can show you photographic evidence of why these teachers should remain. Pictures of their involvement WITH their class. Of the educational and fun projects they do with them. Of their participation in campus activities outside of their classroom. Of the happy smiles on their students’ faces. You should interview each and every one of their students. Ask their parents how they feel about these teachers. I doubt you get one negative piece of feedback. Those are the facts that should be looked at.

However this vote goes, I will be paying close to attention to who votes which way. If these teachers are let go, I will have lost complete faith in this group as a whole to do what is best for the students and their education process. For the upcoming 2020 election and the 2022 election, I will pay attention to who you endorse. If you voted against these teachers,m

I will dismiss those you endorse. When it is your turn to run again for reelection, I will not vote for you. I will encourage others to do the same.

However, should these teachers get to stay on, I will know who voted in their favor and consider the slate wiped clean. I will have restored faith in them as an elected official and believe that they are strong public officials that are reasonable and more importantly, able to be reasoned with. I will vote for you in upcoming elections.

Thank you!
