ATTENTION PARENTS: OUR CHILDREN NEED YOU
Dear BRE Parents,
I hope this message finds you and your loved ones healthy and safe. Many, if not all, of us have taken on the additional role as our children’s teacher and if you’re like me, you’ve never been more grateful for the excellent educators who teach our kids. This makes the following message that much more serious.
Our children’s education and well-being are in grave danger.
CVUSD School Board and Superintendent Norm Enfield made a decision to remove three quality teachers and it has created a path of destruction for our children at Butterfield Ranch Elementary. With the removal of these teachers, other teachers have put in for transfers out of the school. Now that Covid-19 has hit us, the district will be scrambling to find a replacement for an incompetent principal they fired and replacements for wonderful teachers we will lose.
What does this mean for our children?
The strong likelihood of a dysfunctional school marred by disorder and our children taught by under-qualified teachers. The fact is, when there is a vacancy of teachers/administration this large, the district’s top priority will be only to fill the spots, leaving our children vulnerable to a subpar education. K-6 is an absolutely critical time for our children’s literacy and skills development. As parents, we owe it to our children to fight for the education they deserve.
For our children and their future, I plead with you to take these TWO action steps:

In these uncertain times and the chaos that Covid-19 has brought to our children’s lives and education, we as parents have the power to make a decision that will at the very least ensure that they have quality teachers moving forward. Now more than ever, it is crucial for us to do what is right by our kids. Thank you.
MESSAGE TO JOE SCHAFFER AND NORM ENFIELD
Mr. Schaffer,
As a parent at Butterfield Ranch Elementary, I am writing to express my disgust in your failure to provide effective leadership in our community. Your vote to remove three outstanding teachers and the Assistant Principal from Butterfield Ranch Elementary is extremely irresponsible and a complete failure on your part as a leader. Your ineffectiveness, lack of integrity and quality leadership resonates throughout parents and children at our school. Removal of three excellent teachers and AP was a recommendation from Al Bennett, an administrator you removed for incompetence. As Board President, your unjustifiable vote in support of an ineffectual administrator is confounding. You are taking away the livelihood of three exceptional teachers and depriving them of the ability to provide for their families. Your decision appears to be made without a conscience, threatens the education of our children, and that is unacceptable.
Your baseless decision to remove three exemplary teachers and AP will have devastating effects on our children, as now other teachers have put in for transfers. Not only is the school in upheaval due to the removal of an incompetent principal you hired, it will be in utter disarray as you scramble to replace teachers and AP. Your vote against these three teachers makes you untrustworthy; therefore, we cannot say with confidence that you will not continue to retaliate against parents and punish our children by giving us mediocre administrators and teachers.
You appear to promote dysfunction so therefore we as parents amplify a recall supported by Gary Lawson of GL Consultants. It is unfortunate that the situation has reached this point. We had also hoped that it would not escalate beyond the Board or involve attorneys. As Board President, it is your duty to serve our community and ensure that our school district is responsive to the values, beliefs, and priorities of our community.
In your failure to do so, we move to RECALL you, Joe Schaffer, as you are an ineffective leader who no longer brings any value to our children.
